~Careful where you stand..

I feel safe, I feel warm when you're here
Then I do no wrong
I am cured, when I'm by your side
I'm alright, alright

I am safe, when I am with you
And I feel warm, If you want me too
I am cured, when I'm by your side

I'm alright

Careful where you stand, My love
Careful where you lay your head
It's true we're always looking out for one another

So I'd like a quiet time please
Yeah, I'd like a quiet time

Now its as if you're jogging with me, too :)

Starting line!!
hehehe this would be our Halls of Residence :)

A few meters after the starting line,
you'll see the large carpark,
and this particular view :)

This one is around the carpark as well

After the carpark,
we'll be joggin' down this road to a junction at the end.
You can actually see the end in this picture :)

On your way to that junction,
we'll pass by the Saad Centre where the labs are

At the junction, we'll jog to our right,
down this road till the roundabout.
A lot of rabbits here will greet us lol

Here's the roundabout,
we'll be takin' the 12 o'clock exit

We'll pass by the field at the back of the CMB building

More rabbits and humongous birds here

And for about another 700 meters,
we'll be arivin' back at where we started from.
Although, if we're to take a detour of the part behind
the residence of halls,
these views below is what you'll see :)

And voila!
We've completed one run :)
Thank you for your company!
I somehow needed it,
considering i can't really jog..

alone..
or i'll be in trouble haha! :P
ehem..
but now, everyone in the world can join!
Whoopey!! hehehe :Db

~Awake and Alive

Was browsing through transformers 3's soundtrack, and i found this one. Simply awesome!! But of course, if you're up for a more intense ride, dubstep is the wway to go, and here's the dubstep version lol. Happy Sunday, readers!!!! :Db

I'm at war with the world
And they try to pull me into the dark
I struggle to find my faith
As I'm slipping from your arms

It's getting harder to stay awake
And my strength is fading fast
You breathe into me at last

I'm awake, I'm alive
Now I know what I believe inside
Now it's my time
I'll do what I want 'cause this is my life

(Here, right now)
Right here, right now
Stand my ground and never back down
I know what I believe inside
I'm awake, and I'm alive

I'm at war with the world
'Cause I ain't never gonna sell my soul
I've already made up my mind
No matter what, I can't be bought or sold

When my faith is getting weak
And I feel like giving in
You breathe into me again

I'm awake, I'm alive
Now I know what I believe inside

Now it's my time
I'll do what I want 'cause this is my life

(Here, right now)
Right here, right now
Stand my ground and never back down
I know what I believe inside
I'm awake, and I'm alive

Waking up, waking up
Waking up, waking up
Waking up, waking up
Waking up, waking up in the dark

I can feel you in my sleep
In your arms, I feel you breathe into me
Forever hold this heart that I will give to you
Forever I will live for you

I'm awake, I'm alive
Now I know what I believe inside
Now it's my time
I'll do what I want 'cause this is my life

(Here, right now)
Right here, right now
Stand my ground and never back down
I know what I believe inside
I'm awake, and I'm alive

Waking up, waking up
Waking up, waking up
Waking up, waking up
Waking up, waking up

~Wish i could be, part of that world

I was browsing thru my external hard disk after dinner just now considering i was in dire need of something to relax my mind with, and i found the most peculiar movie, a 22 year old like myself would choose to watch at times like these lol. Its a movie that involves a mad chef, a seagull who uses a fork to pull a hairdo, a crustacean conductor, a fat ugly octupus, a stubborn red head with fins, and a handsome, handsome prince. Oh and a bearded old man who rides a huge clam shell thats being pulled by dolphins lol. Ring any bells? Well yea, it was disney's The Little Mermaid. And after watching it for the first time after a decade perhaps, i began to see other parts of the movie that i didn't see when i was younger. Learnt quite a bit with it, too, and at the end of the movie, i've concluded that:

"Curiosity is nature's true limb"
- Yasmin 2011, lol :P

True, no? Think about it. Ariel, our little mermaid was 16, and she was basically risking her freedom, pushing herself beyond limits, went to forbidden places, made a reckless contract with a seawitch, putting her life on the line, sacrificed her lovely voice, why? For love? pfft. Gimme a break, bounce of your clouds and realise life ain't all rosy and just about that four letter word. Curiosity folks. She was soo curious to know how it is to be a human, she was curious to know how it feels. And she was soo damn curious about it that brought her to places. And when i realised this, it got me thinking and comparing, and realising how true the fact is, or at least, it is to me.

Lets go back to our baby days, and try our very best to recall the first step that we took with our own two feet. Seriously, why did we take that first step? Was it merely to have come naturally? Naturally or not, something always happens because someone wants it to happen, and i knew we did in those days, but why? Curiosity. If we weren't curious enough to try, we wouldve been crawling our whole lives away.

Ever heard of natural selection? The great migration? Have you ever wondered why it happened the way it did? Why the change? Curiosity for a better way of living. If nature was blunt enough to just remain the way it is, was not even bothered to find better ways, to genuinely adapt, they'd remain the same way as it is, static, and die.

And this applies logically and rationally to us as well, now that we're supposedly to be intellectual. Tak perlu la nak tgk jauh, why are you here, and reading my post, at this exact moment? To fill in the ample time that you have, true, but really, why MINE? Curiosity. If it ain't for curiosity, we'll be in beds, starin' at the ceiling the whole day, ada 1 kaki ke, 16 kaki ke.. huhu.

And here's the gist of the whole thing. See, ur curiosity not only moves you, its also proportional to the momentum of your movement. The more curios you are about a specific something, the larger the steps you'll be taking. You'll be able to reach heights where no one else has, you'll be able to swim into the depths of the oceans where no one has ever thought of going, heck, it made a mermaid turn into a human, what more can you say! (i know, mmg la cartoon, but still.. hahaha! :P).

There's a difference between someone who settles for moderate, and one who craves for more. Some say itu tamak namanya lol, but seriously, tamak ke for wanting to feel how it is to have more? Tamak ke for wanting to be curious to have more? I dont see the wrong in that at all. Its there for you to have, for you to experience anyway, why put it to waste? Its what you DO with it that sets the huge ethical difference, but wanting to have it? Nuthin' wrong with that, and thats just plain curiosity works right there.

Someone who works for more, gets to more places, only because he or she is curious of how it would feel to be at such a place or such a stage, while someone who's moderate, and who's content with where they are, will stay put at one spot for the rest of their lives. And hey, if you're happy that way, fine by my terms lol. But for those who dreams of making an impact, work on your curiosity. Keep wondering why and how towards everything that you see. Keep thinking of connections. You'll venture places you'll never even dream of venturing :)

And i got all this from The Little Mermaid. It was suppose to relax my mind, not put it to work.. Gahh.. I need sleep lol enjoy your weekends! ;)

~When i look at you

Don't ask how someone who enjoys Enya,
could love somethin' effin' hard like dubstep.
Y'all can say watever,
dubstep's total madness!
Luv it ta bits ;)

-- Maximum Bass for maximum pleasure lol ;)

~ Coz i don't have the time, and i dont have the patience

I know i've posted this before along with other songs, but i personally love this one.
A'ctually am goin' bonkahs ova it chyea?
To'allay auhhsum.. haha
Here's the original version of it
and its lyrics, if y'all wunderin' what ts all about ;)

If you can find the time
To give your love to me
I will wait for you
If that's all you need
If you can find the time
If ever you're free
Just drop me a line
And tell me where you'll be
I'll be right here
If you can find the time
Just be sincere
If you can find the time
I'll wait for you
But if you can't find the time
Then cut me loose

Cause I don't have the time
And I don't have the patience
What do you take me for?
Why am I still waiting?
Cause while you decide.
I'm fucking suffocating.
Cause if you can't find the time
My bleeding heart won't make it x2

If you can find the time
To give your love to me
Just drop me a line
And tell me where you'll be
I'll be right here
If you can find the time
Just be sincere

Cause I don't have the time
And I don't have the patience
What do you take me for?
Why am I still waiting?
Cause while you decide.
I'm fucking suffocating.
Cause if you can't find the time
My bleeding heart won't make it x3

I'll be right here
If you can find the time
Just be sincere
If you can find the time
I'll wait for you
But if you can't find the time
Then cut me loose
Cause I don't have the time
And I don't have the patience
What do you take me for?
Why am I still waiting?
Cause while you decide.
I'm fucking suffocating.
Cause if you can't find the time
My bleeding heart won't make it x3

Cause I don't have the time x2
My bleeding heart won't make it

Holla to y'all gurls out there! ;)

So while we were running some samples with the glucose analyzer, Ojo, which is the phD student that we have to shadow, opened a pretty interesting topic. Well actually, perhaps it wasn’t him who brought it up, but more of me when I asked how he met his wife, lol.

Before I jump into the gist of his stories, I would just like to mention here that he would be one of the most inspiring people I’ve ever met in my whole entire life. He did a double degree at two different universities, at the same time. One was in business and financial management, and another one was on biochemistry. Perhaps, some may not understand the weight of these two courses, I’m not quite sure about business and financial management myself, I’d like to think its quite hard as well with all the theories and calculations and stuff, but heck I had biochemistry for one semester, and that was like a pain in the ass, this dude took that for FOUR YEARS along side with another major course. I was AMAZED when he told me that. And I think he did get a first class degree on biochemistry.

Memang GENIUS LA.. no other word to describe it lol. After that, he continued his masters, and now he’s doing his phD. And you know how like certain people aka ME, yang tak syg Negara sgt ni kan, bukan main cari je opportunity untuk kerja or live some place else, this dude is the total opposite. Macam2 laa dia plan nak buat untuk Negara dia. He plans to collect all the chemical waste in this lab yang tak guna lagi, nak baawak balek pegi Nigeria to set up a lab of his own. He’s planning to set up courses and stuff for earlier exposure towards our field kat org Negara dia. He’s also the kind yang does charity all the time, and one of the important people in the local church I think. And theres a huge difference between org yang ckp besar, dgn org yang betul2 buat kan, this dude is definitely jenis yang betul2 buat. Memang amazing laa. I won’t be surprised if one day, he becomes one of the important ministers of Nigeria lol.

So anywho, we were talking about how he met his wife. I wish I could tell you the whole story, but that would end up me writing a novel, so lets not do that lol. If you’re interested to know, do ask me in person, and I’ll be glad to tell :D But newho, the highlights of it all, are the later tips that he gave us, and imma turn on my girl-power mode now, so y’all dudes just bear in there aite? ;P

Basically, apa dia nak ckp is that gurls have all the rights to jual mahal at this age. Tapi mahal2 pon, kene at a reasonable price la of course. Mahal sgt, tak terbeli plak kan.. lol. But u guys know what I mean. And I think I’ve mentioned in my previous post of how my dad told me that guys are usually in it for the chase? That’s another case. If you’re too easy, u’ll be boring. So be a wee bit hard to get. Trust me, us gurls deserve to be so, we haf A LOT to offer. When I say a lot, I do mean A LOT. Guys, they can’t live without us. Period. Can we live without guys? Err, of course! Hahaha life would be a wee bit dull la kot, but hey, we haf our other nafsus to keep us entertained haha an advantage of havin’ more than one ;) Kalau kite nak org respect us, we gotta set the bar, and we gotta believe that we are of the par we’ve set. You gotta play the game a bit. Jgn la macam org ajak keluar je, pegi.. Sometimes, its good to give out “No”s ;)

Next tip, is to have a waiting list haha. At the age of 22, its too risky to sent off potential candidates away just like that. If you see something you like, add to your cart. And once you have all your options, only will you evaluate and purchase the one that’s worth everything. Leave your door half open, and half close lol ;) But of course, the main point here is not what you have in your cart, but more of the criteria you have to be in your cart. And looks aint everything. Period. Nak mamat handsome? Berlambak weyy. Come to Ireland, on a Thursday night, go to one of their pubs/clubs and mmg ramai gilaa mamat handsome. Dah la drunk, they’ll do whatever it is you want lol. And bukan takat handsome, kaya pon ye. But, is that enough, girls? NO. lol. You gotta open your eyes, and see the guy for who he is, pass his good looks and ayat2 manis. Tu lagi satu. Jgn laa org tu ckp, “I love you”, “hey baby, ure beautiful”, terus fall for it. We want someone who’s responsible, genuine, who has intergrity, who thinks about the future. And when I mean future, I don’t mean future kawen dapat anak semua tu. Ini future, as in HIS future, what he wants in life, his purpose of living, his visions. Perhaps my nerdi-ness affects the criteria that I want in a guy hahaha but gurll, when you really look at it, u’d need some guy who’s serious at least about something!

Aside from who he is, you’d also be needing someone who is serious, ABOUT YOU. The one for you must be someone who appreciates you for who you are, and SHOWS that he does so. Shows that he loves and cares for you, that he is concern about u. Perhaps he has his own ways, perhaps his ways aint about saying I love you everyday, but more on other things ke, alaa, u can tell if that person really cares for you or not kan.. tapi he should show. If he doesn’t show, PANGKAH nama dia from your waiting list lol. Handsome ke, kaya ke, pandai ke, PANGKAH! Hahaha ;)

And of course, in the midst of all this, you have to also hold on to your beliefs. Let your faith guide you, let it be a huge part of this whole thing. Trust me, it’ll be of great help, and insyaAllah, you’ll get the best out of it. And when you haf faith to guide you, you won’t be fooled by the humane desires that might blindfold you. You’ll put Allah first, before anything else, and insyaAllah, that would make you see things clearly. This tip is more of a life livin tip rather than just how to choose the one, so yea ;)

Although we stayed till 8:30 pm at the lab yesterday, every bit of it was fun. Yesterday was fun. I’m thankful to God for giving me the opportunity to meet and learn from such a person.. Have an awesome Friday, tomorrow! ;)

"Your Brain on Music"

I was reading my favourite magazine again, DISCOVER lol, and considering my massive passion towards music and science, I found just the right article that speaks of the connection between those two genres, that I just have to reblog it, (it relates to food as well, which Is a huge bonus! Hahaha! :P) Enjoy! ;)

Your Brain on Music

By: Valarie Ross

If listening to your favourite song feels as satisfying as a good meal, or a romp in the hay, that’s because it probably is. According to a study published in January by neuroscientist Valorie Salimpoor at the Montreal Neurological Institute, music can activate the same reward circuits in the brain as food and sex.

Participants listened to their songs of choice in a PET scanner, which detects the release of the feel-good neurotransmitter dopamine, and again in an fMRI scanner, which measures brain activity. The scans showed that just before feeling enjoyable chills in response to the music, listeners experienced a dopamine rush near the frontal striatum, a brain region associated with anticipating rewards, followed by a flood of dopamine in the rear striatum, the brain’s pleasure center. “It’s like you’re craving the next note,” Salimpoor says. That cycle of craving and fulfillment may be what keeps music lovers coming back for more.

Not all music is created equal, of course. Biologist Nick Hudson of the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation in Australia wondered what distinguishes forgettable tunes from lasting masterpieces. He proposed that one key difference might be found through lossless compression, which exploits repetition and redundancies in music to encode audio data in fewer bits without losing content. When Hudson compared contemporary hits and enduring classics that had been compressed, he found that pop, rock, and techno boiled down to 60 or 70 percent of their original size, while classics such as Beethoven’s Third Symphony shrank much further, to just 40 percent. He suspects that great works’ appeal may stem from a hidden simplicity: “They seem complicated but can be distilled to surprisingly basic terms.” Composers who want to make their mark might do well to create a piece that sounds complex but is actually built on a foundation of simple patterns.

Why do people leave - Part Two

Previously, i think i've posted a link on a blogpost i stumbled upon on why people leave, well here's the part two. Moving, masyaAllah. I love the perspective this blogger wrote from, i like how she see things. Do read if you have the time :)

heres the link:

In the mood to bust hard beats with em eardrums of yours? :Db

Am in that kind of mood again lol, and i've discovered pretty good beats lately, especially after they kept their boombox on in the lab. If you say life in the lab is stressful, not this lab alright, and its the 2nd best biomedical sciences faculty in the UK, after Imperial College.. Kicked Oxford's pretty ass to number 5 lol!! Anywho, enjoy! oh btw, if you're lookin' for luvey duvey, sweet lovin', laid back songs, you got the wrong post lol ;)

"Cause i dont have the time, and i dont have the patience"

"Bounce!"

"You keep on talking, but it makes no sense at all"

"This right here i swear will end too soon"

"I like my beats fast, and my bass down lowwwW"

"Noisia"

"Sweeeet sensation!!"

And that should be it fer now.. enjoy! ;)
